Broken Cups (2)
Well the swing set is rusted,
The picture frame's cracked,
The photos have all faded to gray.
The faces you trusted,
Just never came back,
Yes childhood has eroded away.
And the songs that your mother sang,
As she rocked you to sleep,
You howl out of tune when you're drunk.
Wear good shoes on these streets,
Or you'll soon cut your feet,
On a piece of the broken cup.
After so many Johns and Janes,
Have stained your sheets,
Is it habit or thirst brings them back?
After so many pipers,
Have played on these streets,
Who is missed more, the children or the rats?
Yes we've traded our toy choo-choo trains,
And rosary beads,
For a bottle of gin and a fuck.
Now we sit 'round the bar,
Proud of how bored we are,
As we drink from our broken cup.
We sing, "everything, everything, everything,
Is now permitted.
All the oaths we've taken,
Have been graciously forgotten,
And every sin, every sin,
Is now forgiven."
And every sip somehow tastes rotten.
So let's drink to the men,
Who forgot what they lost.
They've got the best shoes that money can buy.
And a toast to our impotence,
Our cowardice, our sloth,
Nothing matters, why bother to try?
And three cheers for Mary,
Our virgin, our whore.
If she favors you, it's just dumb luck.
Now I'll lift up my glass,
To a life on our ass.
Brothers, lift your cup high,
While your waiting to die,
May we all find a trace,
A faint echo of grace,
Through the crack in our broken cup.

One More Cup Of Coffee 'fore I Go (1)
Your breath is sweet
Your eyes are like two jewels in the sky
Your back is straight your hair is smooth
On the pillow where you lie
But I don't sense affection
No gratitude or love
Your loyalty is not to me
But to the stars above
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee 'fore I go.
To the valley below.
Your daddy he's an outlaw
And a wanderer by trade
He'll teach you how to pick and choose
And how to throw the blade
He oversees his kingdom
So no stranger does intrude
His voice it trembles as he calls out
For another plate of food.
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee 'fore I go.
To the valley below.
Your sister sees the future
Like your mama and yourself
You've never learned to read or write
There's no books upon your shelf
And your pleasure knows no limits
Your voice is like a meadowlark
But your heart is like an ocean
Mysterious and dark.
One more cup of coffee for the road
One more cup of coffee 'fore I go.
To the valley below.

Steak for chicken
Mardi Gras came and went,
all my money has been spent.
How 'm I gonna pay the rent
sitting on -my ass/your face?
Who mistook the steak for chicken?
Who'm I gonna stick my dick in?
We're not those kids,
sitting on the couch.
My former life i -had a sister/was a high roller,
I abused her and I dissed her/walked my kids in a diamond stroller,
she got swept up in a twister/found my calling as a part time bowler
first I laughed and then i missed her/ traded my wife in for a new green roller.
Who mistook these baths for showers?
Who fucked up that leaning tower?
We're not those kids,
sitting on the couch.
Oh, get on a greyhound and ride away,
different dreams from yesterday/ live on birthday cake each day
tell your -grandma you're ok/grandparents that they're gay,
kiss her cheek/steal their money- and run away.
Me and my friends are so smart:
we invented this new kind of –darts/art
hit a bull's eye cut up heart/post modernist throwing darts
smoking crack and -cutting back/crack.
Who mistook this crap for genius?/who is dancing on the ceiling?
Who is gonna stroke my penis?/who is gonna hurt my feelings
We're not those kids,
sitting on the couch,
sitting on the couch.
Oh -even your mother is a crook/people are shiny like a brand new book
but if -I get/you take- a closer look
there's shit on every -road you took/hand you shook
You don't believe me?
Read the book/Look at your hand.
Who made all these things for killing?
Whose -empty heart/pussy hole- needs filling?
We're not those kids,
sitting on the couch.
Who mistook the steak for chicken?
Who'm I gonna stick my dick in?
We're not those kids,
sitting on the couch x 4.

Let´s celebrate the letter Z!
ZZ Top chrono: Zo starts our news time. Back from holiday since… mmh… 3 weeks. I was starring at the sea, starring at the sun for almost 2 weeks, with a gorgeous bike tour through the Landes, and minimal landscape impressions. To the left: deep blue - the ocean. To the right: deep green – the forest. To the sky: 360° cyan vision. To the ground: nothing but brown sugar. Ducks are still sweet and delicious in France, Toulouse still red, Marseille still hot. Battery charged.
Zweet home: Finally found a new place to move to, in the heart of Amsterdam … with a garden. New address: Wilheminastraat 98 HS, 1054 WN Amsterdam.
Zarathoustra: Still has something to say and recommends a book for all and nobody.
With “Dans, dans, dans” by Haruki Murakami will be danced in step. Of the Dolphin hotel, of a reunion with the mysterious Shepherd, of bizarre meetings with an attractive and nervous concierge, of a one-armed American poet, of a spleenish teenager, of a frustrated actor and a charming call girl, of a smug writer. Michael Jackson walks to the moon as Abyssinian prince and Boy George falls from the sky. Of borders between dream and reality, of the search for human contacts in the hypercapitalistic society. Of dancing as long as the music goes, an adventure for your literate foot: C’est la valse à mille temps.
Zooropa: Still planning to go to Germany: Wuppertal, Oberhausen, Cologne, Bonn. Let’s say November.
0: Points at work.
@ the Zoo: Zebra? A song. 2:15 minutes on “69 Love Songs” by the Magnetic Fields. Also gorgeous: Underwear, Blue You. Zébu? Et j´ai plus soif. For language handicapped fellows and phonology aficionados : Zébu > J’ai bu. I have drunk, so I am not thirsty anymore. Sorry.
jaZZ & muZic: SMV blew up my mind yesterday at Paradiso, Amsterdam. Victor Wooten for the 4th time live, Marcus Miller for the 2nd, and hello? Mr. Stanley Clark is nothing but a titan on bass and double-bass. Attending soon: Victor Bailey, Asia Dub Foundation, Hop Chips, New Model Army.
Zoiets: Or Something approaching a heartbeat of 1.808 beats/sec.
Zut alors!: I missed the apparently excellent exhibition “It´s not only Rock&Roll, baby” in Brussels, and the chance to see my beloved Belgian fellows. Very soon in the country of beer and fries again, probably before the end of the year.
Zapping to Zack, Zack: In contact with a music channel based in Amsterdam. Maybe an opportunity to get even more involved in live music. Let’s see what happens on coming Thursday.
Zenith & zodiac: We had full moon on Sunday 14th Sept. I turned 30 this month.
Zone, musical: An area where parking is allowed for a certain period of time. Starting my Electronic Music production course next week at the SAE institute.
Z: Who's Zed? - Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead.

Jazz Up Your Dutch in taaltherapie @ Vondelpark
Eventime: 7 pm
Address: Vondelpark, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Location: Meet directlz at the coffee house in front of the stage, upstairs.
Event Details

New home wanted in Amsterdam
Hoi Amsterdam-based People,
I am
looking for a new rental, on my own or to share on a civilized basis
(up to 2 persons?) in Amsterdam. So, if you hear of something, if your
friends hear of something, if the friends of your friends (who would
be my friends...) hear of something... if God hears of
something... you understand: that would be
fantastic.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Let´s celebrate the letter H!
Home bitter home: I did find a lovely place for me in Amsterdam, but I will not be able to buy it for very obscure reasons. Patience, I say. Last week, I graduated as a voodoo master, and burned 40 puppets at the effigy of my bank advisor.
Home virtual Home: Still working on my website… Link follows very soon.
Hoi Ahoy: North Sea Jazz coming. More in the mood for fusion, jazz-rock, electronic jazz, not talking about core content like Charles Lloyd, Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Angie Stone, George Benson, Deodato, Victor Wooten, Angélique Kidjo, Phil Woods, Maceo Parker, Zappa, The Mars Volta. Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, C-Mon & Kypski, DJ Maestro featuring Rik Mol & Ro Krom, and DJ Tin Tin sound interesting. I finally decided to stay over in Rotterdam for 3 days, instead of travelling back and forth. This will be the occasion of a bit of city seesighting. Rotterdam being for Netherlands almost the same as the Ruhr area for Germany, it sounds very promising to me. I am already looking forward to seeing the port, great modern architecture, the Kubuswoningen etc.
Ha Ruhrgebiet! I will be soon in Wuppertal and Bonn/Cologne in September again. I hope to meet you all.
Heart & Ears: Beating at a pace of 8/4 beats/min. And every step a broken beat. Ears-related only: I am attending Massive Attack next week, Radiohead on the grass with a bottle of red wine and some nice music fellows, and SMV feat. Stanley Clark, Victor Wooten & Marcus Miller in Sept.
Holidays: Arriving in Dax on 23rd of August, I will be surfing on cold waves in Mimizan at the end of August, and on cool vibes in Marseille at the beginning of Sept. I plan to bike from Dax to Mimzan along the coast, between 2 colored strips: sea and forest, under a bleeding sun.
Headaches: Not recently.
Hup Germany hup! …tonight, risking a lot for supporting beloved Germany in Holland.

Jazz Up Your Dutch @ Openluchttheater
Date: Friday 27 June 2008Event time: 8 pm
Location: Vondelpark, Amsterdam
Event Details
Jazz Up Your Dutch gaat undercover in open lucht dansen! Gehuld in boerka, en in trance.
Vanaf 8 pm: lekker Nerderlands praten.
BOERKA IN LANDSCHAP
Viool/altviool: Heleen Hulst
Muziek: György Kurtág: Signs, Games and Messages for Strings - een selectie uit de delen voor solo viool en solo altviool

Koninginnedag 2008
Cette année : Makkum and Franeker
Pasée chez T. et revenue de mes périgrinations jordaaniennes avec le vinyle Born In The USA de Bruce Springsteen.

Hola amigos!
The ones who still withstand the English language and furthermore impersonal mails must bear with me. Please commit to this mail, we all go global. The replies will be in your very local languages and moods.
I´ll change my job! I said farewell (or Fahr zur Hölle? I cannot remember exactly) to my former employer yesterday, and will start working as a Product Manager for a music and web based portal as of April. Classic music, opera and jazz as key products at the moment. Upcoming: worldmusic, film music, electro etc. Plus all desktop applications, live streaming, event mgt etc. And this in… Amsterdam. Yes, this is the chance of my life. Yes, I am flying somewhere in the hyper sky…
I have a terrible new haircut and I was ill (no causal relation). I could hate the hairdresser at Elandsgracht if I did not know that time repairs almost everything in life.
In the musical pipeline: The Black Crows, Nick Cave, dEUS in April, Einstürzende Neubauten in May. All these venues with friends from Germany or Amsterdam, I cannot wait to see you all again.
I also discovered the excellent Wicked Jazz Sounds parties taking place in different locations in Amsterdam: wicked people dancing on wicked sounds, in wicked locations. Tomorrow again, dancing like King Leer.
Finally, I plan to go to North Sea Jazz (excellent line up this year! Okko? Hurry up: Early birds pay less), eventually Graspop Metal Meeting (Grigou: j´attends ta réponse, Volker Blauaugen: Interessiert?), and Lowlands for (almost) sure.
I am still living with my 6 Dutch fellows. I could hate my room if I would hate the hairdresser at Elandsgracht. I am looking forward to buying a flat in the very next future. I am wondering if banks will love me as much as I hate the hairdresser at Elandsgracht. Sounds like settling down here, found the city of my heart.
Jazz Up Your Dutch is not dead. Next meeting next week. This is the funny linguistic/musical group I set up 2 months ago. Basically we - reads people believing that they can learn Dutch in the Netherlands, speaks almost only American and English freaks, with me acting as a French diplomatic interface, this must have a deep political signification - meet twice a month at the Bimhuis. First we drink, then we try to speak Dutch, then we drink more, and we finally attend the jazz sessions at 10 pm. Non-native Dutch speakers in Amsterdam are welcome, native speakers as well: this may hurt your ears, but open your eyes to undiscovered linguistic possibilities in life.
What else? Short visit to Dublin 3 weeks ago. I canceled my Easter vacation in Marseille this week to search for eggs in Amsterdam.
Ach my friends! What about you?
