Op vrijdag met zijn tweeën (ik bedoel: met z'n drieën, vieren... en alle andere bij) naar het optreden van Morrissey in Eindhoven geweest. Alles naar gewoonte: zondagen zijn gewoon zondagen, Gustavo* verkoopt nog steeds sinaasappelen, Morrissey schrijft prachtige liedjes en Lou Reed helpt soms een beetje bij. Wij? Wij blijven gewoon ventilators vernietigen.

Een setlist waarmee Smiths-fans zeker niet te kort kwamen, plus twee extra's uit het (nog niet verschenen) nieuwe album. Een door en door goed concert, met geweldige highlights als Speedway, Sunday Is Like Sunday en de Smiths nummers I Know It's Over alsook de brutale uitvoering van Meat Is Murder. Scandinavia vond ik opvallend tot uiterst goed: de opvolger van Years of Refusal uit 2009 laat echter nog even op zich wachten, maar wij mogen alvast benieuwd zijn naar het nieuwe Morrissey album.

Yeah, I have read that on morrissey-solo when I checked for a certain "Gustavo still selling oranges", said Moz when introducing the band to the audience. Still wondering what Morrissey meant exactly, is that some kind of cliché of Latinos selling oranges on the freeway or something?
You never really know what morrissey meant, but yeah, Latino immigrants, picking or selling fruit... I kind of see where this is going :p.
To 'stand [or sit] on an orange box' is a more-or-less fixed expression in English (and Dutch, incidentally), usually indicating that an amateur musician (or politician, evangelist, motivational speaker...) has built him/herself a stage. For example, there is a rather cheesy song by Nico Haak, with the lines 'Honky tonky pianissie op je sinaasappelkissie speel maar verder'. I thought that was what he meant, but it could also be the Latino pun that Julian suggested. Hello, by the way!
¡arriba! and I thought that the Latino idea was mine in the first place?... Thanks anyway for the interesting comment, still not explaining why "selling" and why "still selling"? Also, Manzur is far from being an amateur musician so far I know. But maybe he used to run a competitive amateur fruit shop in a previous life in Columbia?
